One service for our Reception & Placement program clients is school enrollment. Within 30 days of arrival, your children will be attending school. Our staff will assist you with school enrollment and show you where the schools are located.
Generally, children start school at age 5. Sometimes they start at age 4. Kindergarten through 5th grade is known as Elementary School. The children then attend Middle School (grade 6 thru 8), and finally High School (grade 9 thru 12). Most schools in San Diego are prepared to assist children whose first language is not English and IRC can help connect you to those programs.
